Background: California’s Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (CCCP), in collaboration
with the California Dialogue on Cancer, administers the California Colorectal Cancer (CRC)
Program. The CRC Program aims to decrease the incidence of colorectal cancer by promoting colorectal cancer screening and early symptom detection.

CRC Program Goals

  • Promote early symptom recognition by both healthcare providers and patients
  • Educate healthcare providers about current diagnostic recommendations for at-risk populations


Goal of the Mini-Grant Award: The goal of the CRC Mini-Grant Award is to collaborate with
community-based organizations to raise awareness regarding colorectal cancer screening,
symptoms and prevention. Outreach efforts may be focused towards providers or the general
population. The CRC Program encourages all interested CBOs to propose innovative programs or activities aiming to educate health care providers or the general public in their communities on the screening options and symptoms of colorectal cancer.


Due Date: All applications must be received by 3:00 pm on September 30th, 2009


RFA Submittal:Applications must contain all information and conform to the format described
in the RFA. Electronic applications will be accepted as well as hard copies. Please mail or
E-mail applications to the appropriate address listed in the application.


Questions:Written questions may be submitted via e-mail at the following address:
emily.perez@cdph.ca.gov.The last day to submit written questions is September 15, 2009.


Available Funds:Funds are administered by the Public Health Institute and the Comprehensive Cancer Control Program. These are one time awards to be dispersed among approved applicant organizations with no one organization receiving more than $5,000.


Eligibility: Applications will only be accepted from IRS recognized 501(3) not for profit
organizations with services in California. Individuals are not eligible to apply.
